Trip to the Library

On Tuesday June 28th all children who had taken part in the Reading Partners Project this year went on a trip to Rush Library. The weather was lovely so we walked.

The Librarian showed us around the library and then we had a chance to enjoy some books.

We finished off the day with a picnic in the playground.

News

The Learning Support term ends this Friday June 17th. I will be taking back all the readers on that day. Next week I will be doing assessments with children who have got support from me to see how they progressed. I will be in touch with the parents involved to let them know the results.

Interesting International Recipes

I have been working in Mr O'Donoghue's 3rd class on different types of writing. The children wrote wonderful reports, poetry, recipes. instructions and explanations. I decided to post these recipes from Poland and Nigeria.

Reading Partner's Project

Since March, six 1st  class children have partnered up with six 6th  class children to read and enjoy as many books as possible. They meet in my room Mondays to Thursdays from 9.00a.m to 9.20a.m. The children from 6th class were trained initially on how to support the younger children at reading. They have read through an average of 60 books and seem to really enjoy it. Earlier this year a similiar partnership was set up between 2nd class and 6th class. This was also a great success. As a reward for the children's commitment and enthusiasm I plan to bring all children involved in the Reading Partner's Project this year to Rush Library for a visit . We plan to go Tuesday June 28th. Letters will be going out to the parents of all the children involved
